The Great Homemade Mustard Experiment

Left out of this photo, because I decided to add them later was Tumeric and some Old Bay.

Yes, I can't help it.  I can't bring myself to make just basic mustard, so I try all kinds of crazy things and add things at the end.  Knowing that I really won't be able to actually taste the mustard for a bit to check seasonings...it's a bit scary.

I think that I used 1 1/4 cup of mustard flour.  Ground up in a coffee grinder that I used for spices and still had some nuances of cardamon in it.

Ingredient list:

1 1/4 cup Mustard Flour
1/2 cup Vinegar
1/4 cup Sake
1/4 cup water
1 tsp sugar (Sugar in the Raw...we'll see how it dissolves)
1/2 tsp Tumeric
1/4 tsp Old Bay
1/2 tsp salt

When all stirred together, it looks like this:

I'll try this is a week to see how the flavors are.

Of course, the easiest way to make some mustard...hot hot HOT mustard is to grab yourself a little tin of Colman's Mustard and just mix equal parts of that with water.  Wait 10 minutes and let your sinuses gloriously open up to the heat!
