Homemade Sauerkraut - The Tasting
"If you don't die, I'll try some tomorrow"
Such began the words of my ever supportive wife as I offered her some of my purple sauerkraut.
You know what? It's actually really good. It's got a nice crunch to it and some zing. It's quite addictive, and I don't like sauerkraut too much. This stuff, I like! Hopefully I will still be around to post her opinion on it.
Keep in mind that some of the cabbage used was green savoy cabbage. This would alter the look of it a bit, when you run into the wrinkly shreds.

I cracked up when I read your wife's comment! Do post back and let us know, ok?
I give you a lot of credit for making your own sauerkraut. I might have to try myself -- that just may be the only way to get my husband to eat cabbage!

Your wife has nothing to worry about- there is no way homemade sauerkraut will kill you. It would actually be rather difficult to mess it up so badly that it would be fatal. Personally, I'm not a sauerkraut fan either, but my husband likes it. Homemade always tastes very different though, as you've just shown.
